Immunohistochemistry is a method that involves identification of specific antigens within the tissues after using an antigen-specific antibody. The invention of the IHC technique was done in the 1940s. It is also used widely in the diagnosis of diseases by specific tumor markers which can easily aid in the determination of origin of tumor and the grade of tumor cells, in identification of the cell type and classification of the tumor.
